Protected Areas
Explore Central Alberta's Protected Areas
The objectives of Nature Central are to honour the protected areas of Central Alberta while also encouraging awareness, exploration, non-consumptive use and ecological understanding of these sites. Central Alberta is home to a significant number of protected areas (approximately 190), all of which are either owned/managed by agencies, organizations or municipalities.

Our program offers a centralized and easily accessible inventory of these areas, serving as a valuable resource for individuals seeking to learn about and explore the many natural areas found in central Alberta.
