This 797-acre site is approximately 3 km north of Pine Lake and consists of native parkland with a diverse mix of aspen-covered rolling hills, open meadows and numerous wetlands. Wildlife in the area includes white-tailed and mule deer, moose, elk and ruffed grouse. During the summer, broods of Canada geese and diving ducks are common in the large deep wetlands of the southwest corner. Berry picking for saskatoons from mid-July through August as well as chokecherries. Please avoid the grazing cattle.

Nova Chemicals Community Nature Trail – 26.4 km from Red Deer
This is a 220-acre natural area. To access from Red Deer go east on Highway 11, turn onto 815 north until Township Road 390 turn west. The parking lot will be on the right. This area is rich in biodiversity. There are trails that go throughout the grassland and wetland areas – a perfect place to view wetland birds and plants. The wildlife here include white-tailed deer, moose, coyote, grassland and wetland birds.

Braithwaite Natural Area - 29 km from Red Deer
This natural area is 74.9-acres and was established in 1990 to preserve the timber and rare orchids that are found within this landscape. This natural area is very unique with majority of the area being covered in calcareous fen. Wildlife that frequent this area include white-tailed and mule deer, red squirrels, coyotes, red foxes and forest birds.

Elizabeth Lake Trail - 31.3 km from Red Deer
This natural area is within Lacombe and offers a trail network winding around Elizabeth Lake. A perfect walking path to see numerous wetland species and woodland birds. The trail does get muddy in some areas so rubber boots are recommended. This lake can also be kayaked and has benches and garbage cans along the trail.

The site provides excellent hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, moose, elk, and ruffed grouse. Other recreational opportunities include saskatoon berry picking and wildlife viewing for songbirds, raptors, owls, and amphibians.
