Join us for a fascinating Nature Walk where you will learn all about the regeneration of native plants after fire. Bring your kayak/canoe and join Nature Central / Red Deer River Naturalists for a leisurely Nature Paddle around Lacombe Lake. This is a free local event for Adults, Families, and Youth. Date / Location: Wednesday, July 27th @ 6:30 PM. We will meet at the Lacombe Lake boat launch (Township Road 402) for a 6:30 PM departure. Light refreshments will be served following the paddle. The Alberta Native Bee Council, Red Deer River Naturalists, and Nature Central would like to invite you to come and enjoy a family-oriented summer afternoon “Pollinator Walk” right here in Red Deer. This is a free event, and all are welcome (Families, Adults, Youth). The walk will be hosted by Charity Briere (Instructor, Biology - Red Deer Polytechnic). Date and Time: Sunday, July 24th at 4:00 PM. We will meet at the south end of the Kinex Arena parking lot and explore the amazing world of pollinators on a wonderful guided walk through Barrett Park. Join Nature Central / Red Deer River Naturalists for a Family Pond Dipping Adventure hosted by Environmental Educators: Joey Temple Janessa Matthew Participants will learn all about wetland ecosystems and why they are so important. The Pond Dip will bring the wetland ecosystem to life as we look closely at the little critters that live and thrive in healthy wetland ecosystems. Date / Location: This event will take place on Saturday, July 16th @ 1:00PM. This event will take place at Kuhnen Park. Directions: Range Rd 272, just north of Township Rd 400. Look for the entrance to Watipi Campground and follow the entrance (straight) to the parking area for Kuhnen Park. See you there, and spread the word! |
WEDNESDAY, JULY 13 Join the Red Deer River Naturalists / Nature Central as we help celebrate Nature Alberta’s Family Nature Night on July 13th, 2022 at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre in Red Deer, Alberta. Attendees will learn all about Incredible Ecosystems by taking guided tours of the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, investigate the difference between antlers and horns with the Red Deer River Naturalists, and meet a live Great Horned Owl with the Medicine River Wildlife Centre. Registration is required and starts at 6:00 p.m. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come early to register your spot as we can only accommodate a limited number of families. This is a free event, although donations are always greatly appreciated. |

Sunday, June 19
Summer is in full swing and we invite you to join Nature Central for the first of our summer Nature Walk series. Building on the success of last year's program, we will continue to explore Central Alberta's amazing wild places and protected areas. Our first walk will be on Sunday, June 19th at the Nova Community Nature Trail and we anticipate covering about 4km of the trail system. We will meet in the main parking lot at 1PM and the walk will take about 2 hours. Tell a friend, get the word out, and see you there! |
Nature Walk Guideline Information
Rules: Hiking allowed, Day use only, No open fires, Foot access only
Dogs: Unfortunately, we don't allow dogs on the Nature Walks. Please note that protected areas are some of the last remaining places where wildlife can live their lives in peace. Dogs frighten, chase and even kill wildlife. Please respect the wildlife and do NOT bring your dog (leashed or unleashed) to these areas. Consent Prior to Entry: No |
