Wood Lake (48.8 km)

Wood Lake is a 149-acre site located 8 km east of Delburne, featuring aspen forests, wetlands, and upland shrubs. Birdwatchers can spot species like the Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, Gadwall, Pied-billed Grebe, Red-tailed Hawk, and various songbirds including the Yellow Warbler and American Robin. The wetlands support waterfowl, muskrat, beavers, moose, and other wildlife, while the surrounding forests are home to woodpeckers, white-tailed and mule deer. Plant species include Trembling Aspen, Balsam Poplar, Saskatoon, chokecherry, wild raspberry, buckbrush, and Beaked Hazelnut. The area offers seasonal opportunities for berry picking, though there are no formal trails. The site is easy to explore on foot and provides good wildlife viewing throughout the year.

Access: From Delburne, take Highway 21 south and go east on Township Road 372, for 6.4 km. Then north on Range Road 224. The site is 2.2 km on your left.
