Pofianga/Ponoka Property (60.0 km)

Lake Pofianga, located northwest of Ponoka, is a 200-acre property managed by the Ponoka Fish and Game Association. The site began in 1955 with a donation of 5.9 acres of land along Maskwa Creek. After early attempts to build a dam were washed out, a stable dam with a concrete spillway was completed in 1964 with help from local and provincial partners. This created a four-acre lake, which has since become the center of a growing recreation area. The site now includes a stocked pond, clubhouse, cabins, lodge, campground, and several kilometers of trails through mixed woods and open areas. It’s used for nature walks, wildlife viewing, youth camps, and outdoor education programs, and remains an important space for conservation and community recreation.

Access: From Ponoka, take Highway 53 west and merge onto Highway 2 North. Exit at 462 (Menaik Road), turn left onto Township Road 442, then take the first left onto Range Road 261. Drive 1.6 km south—the entrance is on your left.
