Lowden Springs (68.0 km)

Lowden Springs is a 131-acre site located 19 km south of Stettler along Highway 56. The area features native grasslands typical of the dry mixedgrass subregion, with perennial and annual grasses in mixed stands, as well as patches of aspens and tame pastures. Part of the site borders the small, shallow Lowden Lake, providing excellent opportunities for birdwatching, with species such as American Avocets, willets, and various waterfowl. Wildlife in the area also includes coyotes and white-tailed deer. Visitors should exercise caution, as sinkholes and springs can create quicksand-like conditions. Livestock may be present. For more information, call or text 403-896-9687.

Access: Head south on Highway 56 from Stettler. After 18 km, the site will be on your left.
