Len Thompson Trout Pond (24.1 km)

The Len Thompson Trout Pond, located in Lacombe’s Wolf Creek Industrial Park on the north end of Len Thompson Drive, is a family-friendly destination offering trout fishing opportunities. The pond is stocked annually by the Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) around the May long weekend, providing a great experience for anglers of all skill levels. A large dock with picnic tables, along with several fishing areas around the pond, ensures that visitors can spread out and enjoy the setting. The site is also home to the world’s largest fishing lure, installed in 2019, which is a must-see landmark. The pond hosts the annual Youth Fishing Day in June, inviting young anglers to practice their catch-and-release skills. While there are no formal paths, the area is easy to navigate on foot, with accessible parking, garbage cans, and an outhouse available. The site also features a playground for children, as well as benches. Please note that visitors should check the Alberta Fishing Regulations website for local rules and open season dates. Bug spray is recommended during the warmer months!
