Kerbes (63.3 km)

The Kerbes site, located 14 km northwest of Big Valley, includes three adjoining quarters, totaling 480 acres of wetland, grassland, and bush habitats. The main 160-acre quarter (featured in the Alberta Discover Guide) is joined by the northern quarter, held in title by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, and the southern quarter across the road. The area provides excellent habitat for elk, moose, deer, grouse, and waterfowl. A large beaver lodge can be found in the roadside pond, though many of the site’s ponds are dry. The site has no official signage, and is suitable for day-use hiking. Livestock may be present. For more information, contact 403-352-9395.

Access: From Erskine, head south on Highway 835, then turn west onto Township Road 364 and continue for 1.6 km to reach the southeast corner of the site.Partners: DUC
