Kemo (48.7 km)
Kemo is a 160-acre property located south of Boyden Natural Area, featuring a mix of grassland, pasture, and wetland habitats. It is home to a range of wildlife, including moose, white-tailed and mule deer, coyotes, Franklin's Ground Squirrels, and a variety of bird species such as nesting Turkey Vultures, American Kestrels, Canada Geese, Gadwall, Mallards, Blue-winged Teal, Ring-necked Ducks, Wilson's Snipe, and Bobolinks. Plant life in the area includes Trembling Aspen, Balsam Poplar, Wild Rose, Saskatoon, Bunchberry, Meadow Rue, and wildflowers like Purple Milk Vetch, Common Yarrow, and Goldenrod. While there are no formal trails, visitors can follow game trails to explore the area. The site is easily accessible from the east of Lousana, and snowshoeing is an option in winter if the public roads are plowed.
Access: From Lousana, head east on Township Road 364, turn right onto Range Road 231, and travel 5.9 km. The destination will be on your right, south of Boyden.
