Hebert Lake Uplands (97.0 km)

The Hebert Lake Uplands is a 259-acre conservation site located about 22 km southeast of Stettler and 12 km south of Botha. It connects Hebert Lake (E3-116) and Beltz Lake (E3-41) Conservation Sites and provides important habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, and grassland songbirds such as western meadowlark, Sprague’s pipit, Baird’s sparrow, and sometimes loggerhead shrike. Moose, white-tailed deer, and mule deer also use the area. The site includes grassland, tame pasture, shrubland, forest, and riparian habitats. It is open for day use only and can be accessed on foot—no open fires are allowed. Livestock may be present, especially in the fall, so visitors should avoid areas where cattle are grazing. A 10-acre section in the northwest corner of NW 19 is private land and not part of the site.

Access: To access the site from Botha, head south on Highway 850 for 11.6 km, then turn west onto Township Road 374 and continue for 1.6 km.
