Dickson Point Campground & Trout Pond (59.0 km)
Located about 20 km west of Innisfail, Dickson Point Campground is an Alberta Parks site on Gleniffer Reservoir featuring 18 unserviced, gravel‑pad campsites with picnic tables, fire pits, fish‑cleaning stations, pit‑vault toilets, and a non‑motorized boat launch. A floating dock on the adjacent Dickson Trout Pond—stocked with rainbow and tiger trout and open year‑round for day use and ice fishing—is commonly used by young anglers and also provides a convenient launch site for kayaks and canoes. The berm between the reservoir and pond doubles as a walking path and vantage point for observing waterfowl amidst cattails and mixed woods, including the Common Loon, American White Pelican, Osprey, and Bald Eagle. Dickson Point is one of three first‑come, first‑served campgrounds in the Gleniffer Reservoir PRA, links to several day‑use areas on both the reservoir and the Red Deer River, and shares boat launches at Cottonwood and South Dyke—but fluctuating water levels may delay launch access until early summer. The campground is closed in winter but remains open for day use year‑round under the Gleniffer Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area plan.
Access: Head south of Spruce View on Range Road 31 for roughly 7 km, then turn left onto Dickson Point Road to reach the campground.
