Dickson Dam Site 7 (46.5 km)

Dickson Dam Site 7 is a 388-acre mixed-wood forest near Gleniffer Lake, featuring a variety of habitats, including mature trembling aspen, balsam poplar, and black cottonwood in different stages of growth. The area also contains scattered white spruce, black spruce, and tamarack in its marshy sections. It's an ideal spot for birdwatching, with species like the Northern Goshawk, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue Jay, Boreal Chickadee, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Ovenbird commonly seen. While the main trail offers an easy walk, exploring further into the forest requires navigating game trails and bushwhacking. The site is home to diverse wildlife, including White-tailed Deer, Moose, Black Bear, and smaller mammals like Red Squirrels and Weasels. The forest floor is home to a variety of plants, including cranberries, wild rose, Saskatoon berries, goldenrod, and fireweed, along with raspberries and willow. Locals often use trail cameras to capture the wildlife.

Access:  Travel on Township Road 352, then turn south onto Range Road 31 for 0.5 km. The site will be on your right.
