Bulka (46.3 km)

Bulka is a 476-acre protected area featuring aspen forest, grassland, shrubland, and wetlands, with ongoing efforts to restore native grasses and enhance wetland habitats. The site is home to a variety of plant species, including wild rose, goldenrod, red-osier dogwood, and spotted coralroot, alongside a rich undergrowth of vegetation. Birdwatchers can observe species such as the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Eastern Kingbird, Warbling Vireo, Baltimore Oriole, Tree Swallow, and Clay-colored Sparrow, while waterfowl like the Blue-winged Teal and Northern Shoveler frequent the wetlands. The area also supports a range of wildlife, including white-tailed and mule deer, moose, beavers, and porcupines. The terrain includes open grasslands that are easy to navigate and aspen forest areas that are more difficult, though cutlines assist with orientation. Visitors can also find Saskatoon berries and other edible plants, making it a good spot for both exploration and observation.

Access: From Delburne, travel 18 km south on Highway 21, turn west onto Highway 590, and the site will be 1.4 km on your left.
