Boyden (48.3 km)

Boyden is a 134-acre natural area with grasslands, aspen forests, and wetlands, offering good wildlife viewing opportunities. It is home to various bird species, including the Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, Lesser Scaup, Swainson's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, and Franklin's Gull. The aspen forest acts as a key wildlife corridor, where you might spot White-tailed Deer, Mule Deer, Moose, and Coyotes. Other animals in the area include the Franklin's Ground Squirrel, Red Fox, and birds like Tree Swallows, Western Wood-Pewees, Downy Woodpeckers, and Red-eyed Vireos. Plant life in the area includes Trembling Aspen, Balsam Poplar, Prairie Rose, Saskatoon, Wild Rose, Purple Milk Vetch, Canada Anemone, Goldenrod, and several species of wildflowers. The site is accessible via Township Road 364 and Range Road 231, with easy walking along grassy paths, though the hilly terrain may be challenging. In winter, it offers good potential for snowshoeing if the roads are plowed.

Access: From Lousana, head east on Township Road 364, turn right onto Range Road 231, and continue 5.1 km. The destination will be on your right.
