Beltz Lake (98.0 km)
Beltz Lake is a 160-acre conservation site located approximately 22 km southeast of Stettler and 12 km south of Botha. The property features a mix of tame and native grasslands, aspen stands, and numerous wetlands, providing excellent habitat for a wide range of wildlife. It supports waterfowl, shorebirds, and grassland birds such as meadowlarks, Sprague’s pipits, Baird’s sparrows, and occasionally loggerhead shrikes. White-tailed and mule deer, ruffed grouse, and moose may also be found in the area. Raptors are commonly seen in the aspen stands, and a variety of songbirds nest in the upland areas. The site is open for day use only and is accessible by foot. No open fires are permitted. Livestock may be present, so visitors should avoid areas where cattle are grazing. Access: From Botha, head south on Highway 850 for 11.6 km, then turn west onto Township Road 374. Continue for a short distance, then turn south onto Range Road 190. In 1.1 km, the site will be on the west side of the road. Look for a lease road to access the property.
